PVP, also known as GreenLightTM Laser Therapy, is an alternative to a TURP. This procedure uses precisely directed laser energy, rather than thermal or electrical energy to remove prostate tissue. The major benefit of this procedure is a lower blood loss compared to a classical TURP and it may also be performed on patients who take aspirin and in some cases blood thinners. This procedure does require an anesthetic but is usually performed as an outpatient surgical procedure
