Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy

STONE DISEASE

PCNL

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy is a procedure performed for medium to larger kidney stones under general anesthesia. The urologist or radiologist places a tube into the kidney through the back. Next, larger instruments can then be used to remove large volumes of stones at one time. Because it is more invasive than the other procedures it has higher risks but is much more effective at treating large amounts of stones at one time.
