Transurethral Electrovaporization of the Prostate (TUVP)

Transurethral electrovaporization of the prostate is a surgery similar to a TURP. The procedure is performed to help men with urinary symptoms due to an enlarged prostate (BPH). The urologist uses a resectoscope which passes through the urethra and uses an electrical current to vaporize prostate tissue to help open up the urethra.  This procedure has less bleeding and fluid absorption. It has other risks similar to a TURP and it similarly requires anesthesia. It has a very low risk of causing erectile dysfunction.
